The 25th Irish Conference of Medievalists will take place at the National University of Ireland, Galway, over 24–26 June 2011. The conference will feature:
- A keynote address by Prof. Alf Smyth (Canterbury): ‘Ireland and Europe in the Middle Ages: Different cultures or different source materials?’
- Special plenary session: ‘Cross-currents in Norse and Irish literature’, with Prof. Judith Jesch (Nottingham), Prof. Jan Erik Rekdal (Oslo) and Prof. Gísli Sigurðsson (Reykjavík).
- Special plenary session: ‘New work on Columbanus’ (details to be announced).
We welcome proposals for papers of 20 minutes’ duration. Proposals should include a title and short abstract (200 words max.), and may be submitted on-line or e-mailed to padraic.moran@nuigalway.ie. Topics outside the field of Irish studies welcome!
